Cappadocia Balloon Tours

What could be more memorable than floating high above a land that appears to have been touched by all of those ancient gods themselves? Cappadocia balloon tours are a great way to spend your holiday.

Should you decide to look for some Cappadocia balloon tours, it will help to know a bit about the land that you will be soaring high above. This portion of the world is quite breathtaking thanks to the oddly shaped land that covers it, though the history of this area is also quite fascinating. While Cappadocia is currently part of modern Turkey, it has never really changed since the beginning of time. To speak of this portion of the world, one must travel back in time to those glorious days of Alexander the Great.

It may seem as though Alexander the Great was able to conquer nearly every part of the world. Driving out Persian forces left and right, Alexander has a way of intimidating the competition. However, once Alexander arrived in Cappadocia, the people within this town refused to submit to his glory. Instead, they choose to declare Ariarathes (an influential Persian aristocrat) the ruler of the land. Ariarathes turned out to be a great leader, and he stretched his territory all the way to the Black Sea.

While you won’t see the many underground cities that tunnel throughout this land from those Cappadocia balloon tours, it will benefit you to take some time to explore them. These underground cities were once home to many Christians that used them to hide prior to establishing Christianity as a religion. What you will see from your position in the sky are numerous rock formations that are a direct result of volcanoes that erupted nine million years ago. These rocks actually served as homes and places of worship for many people throughout time. In fact, some of the churches that are housed within these large stones contain some of the most important frescoes that the world has to offer.

Though many people may not consider visiting Turkey, this land is rich with culture and strewn with interesting historical tidbits. After taking your tour through the Grand Bazaar, consider spending some time up in the air viewing beautiful Cappadocia.

You can find numerous Cappadocia balloon tours once you arrive, or you can book your tour prior to leaving. Either way, you will find this land incredibly intriguing and curious.
