Cappadocia Winery Tours

If you are heading to Turkey, you might want to look into one or two Cappadocia winery tours. This area of the world is not widely known for its wine, though it does offer some unique bottles.

Most wine enthusiasts are quick to travel to Italy, France, and even California in search of the perfect bottle at the right price. Lately, the same enthusiasts have begun to look for that great grape in other parts of the world as well. Though it might not be the first area you think of when you think about wine, there are a lot of Cappadocia winery tours offered to tourists from nearly every country.

Cappadocia soil is volcanic soil that is rich with minerals making it the perfect ground to grow grapes upon. In fact, this area of the world has gained so much popularity lately that many tourists are trekking to Turkey in order to attend the Cappadocia Wine Festival. This festival is held at the end of October, and it will give you a real taste of the many bottles that this area has to offer. Aside from the wine festival (book your room well in advance), you can find lots of vineyard tours to choose from all over the internet. There is only one thing to consider when it comes to visiting a wine region: the harvest.

Towards the end of September, vineyards are bustling with workers trying to collect the grapes for the annual harvest. During this time, there are not many visits to vineyards, since tourists can get in the way of work. So, if you have your heart set upon Cappadocia winery tours, you might want to consider any other month other than September. Actually, you might want to consider any other summer month, since most vineyards are closed during the winter months. Aside from the harvest, a few practical thoughts should be taken into consideration.

Make sure that your vineyard tour guide speaks English; ask the tour guide about the kind of grapes that are grown at each vineyard; and make sure that sampling will take place. Also, read up on how many bottles you are allowed to bring back into the country with you to avoid paying taxes.

Cappadocia winery tours are fantastic if you catch them during the right season. Make sure to book ahead, and enjoy this majestic land to its fullest extent.
